Google Ads Agency
in Durban
Durban does not get a season the way the Highveld does. Damp, mould and aircon demand run through the whole calendar, a working port economy sits underneath the residential one, and a real share of the searching happens in isiZulu. We build eThekwini accounts around all three. From R4,500 a month. No lock-in.

Documented Client Accounts
Four client accounts published with their account screenshots. The returns above are ratios, so they read the same in rand as they do in dollars. All four are American accounts. None of them is a Durban account, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Judge the method, then read the numbers and the reconciliation notes on the results page.
Where Your Ads Show
Inland accounts wait for a season.
Durban never gets one.
Nearly every Google Ads template written in this country was written for the Highveld, where demand arrives with the first October storm and dies off in May. Copy that shape onto Durban and the budget is wrong for most of the year.
Humidity does the selling
Damp and mould never go quiet
Coastal humidity keeps ceilings, cupboards, bathrooms and roof spaces producing work in months when the inland equivalent has nothing on at all. Damp proofing, mould treatment, waterproofing and ventilation are a standing category here, not an after-the-storm one. In most Durban accounts we open, those terms are buried inside a general campaign where they compete for budget against something seasonal and lose.
Aircon is a utility here
Twelve months of running hours, not four
On the Highveld a unit sits idle half the year and the installation window is short and violent. In Durban the machines run through most of it, so servicing, regassing, filters and breakdowns carry genuine volume in June as well as January. A budget that collapses to nothing after summer switches off a category that is still working.
The port pays for a second economy
Freight buys nothing like a household does
The container terminal, the warehousing behind it and the light manufacturing around Jacobs and Prospecton buy services through purchase orders, approved supplier lists and scheduled maintenance windows. Even if you serve households as well, the two do not belong in one campaign — the wording differs, the conversion action differs, and the hours of day that matter differ.
Two languages in one auction
isiZulu terms are thin and cheap
A meaningful share of service searching across eThekwini happens in isiZulu, and hardly anybody bids on it, so the auction is close to empty next to the English equivalent. Be realistic about the size of it: the English volume is larger and will still carry most of your leads. It is worth adding because it costs next to nothing, not because it will transform the account.
Suburbs we build Durban campaigns around: Durban CBD, Berea, Musgrave, Morningside, Glenwood, Essenwood, Umbilo, Bluff, Durban North, Virginia, Umgeni Park, Overport, Sydenham, Springfield Park, Jacobs, Prospecton, Phoenix, Umlazi, KwaMashu, Newlands and the wider eThekwini municipality.
Trades We Run Here
Where Durban demand
actually sits.
The trade mix here is shaped by air and water rather than by storms, and by a port that most residential-first accounts never notice.
HVAC & Aircon
Servicing and regassing keep earning all year in a way they simply do not inland. The work is in splitting a breakdown search from somebody pricing a unit at a retailer.
Plumbers
Geyser and drain work across the older Berea and Glenwood stock, plus a stream of enquiries worded as a leak that turn out on arrival to be condensation.
Roofing Companies
Waterproofing and damp sell more steadily here than storm repair, and people describe them differently — a stain on a ceiling, not a hole in a roof. Your keywords should match how they type it.
Cleaning Companies
Mould and upholstery work sits alongside ordinary domestic cleaning, while the warehouse and office side buys annual contracts through a facilities desk. Two campaigns, never one.
Electricians
Compliance certificates on a property market that keeps turning, distribution board faults and backup power. Industrial three-phase work near the port is its own lane with its own buyers.
Construction & Renovations
Renovation in the Berea suburbs, where the housing stock is old enough that the job usually starts with something structural. Long cycles, so counting form fills alone trains the account to find the wrong people.
Stop Paying For These
Durban clicks that look
like work and are not.
Durban has a particular noise problem: a holiday economy, a port and a very large search population all pressing on the same keywords.
Holidaymakers
“beachfront”, “uShaka”, “things to do”
Durban is a destination for the rest of the country, and destination intent attaches itself to service terms with very little help. It swells across every school holiday. If you serve residents, hotel, resort, accommodation, things to do and the beachfront landmarks belong in the negative list from the first week.
The interest setting
Someone planning a trip is not booking you
Google’s default location option also serves people merely showing interest in your area. In Durban that means holiday planners and inland families pricing a December, none of whom will ever open a door for your technician. Presence-only is one dropdown, and it is the first thing we change in an eThekwini account.
Port and freight vocabulary
“container”, “clearing agent”, “depot”
Logistics language overlaps with trade language more than you would expect — storage, transport, handling, container, depot. If freight is not your customer, that traffic is expensive and it converts to nothing at all.
The retail twin
“aircon price”, “dehumidifier”
Every category the humidity creates has a product version of itself. Dehumidifiers, extractor fans, damp-seal paint and split units all pull heavy volume from people intending to buy a box rather than book a technician. Left on broad match, those terms can take an installer’s entire month.
Every one of these is something we have pulled out of a real account. The free audit tells you which of them your budget is funding right now.

Questions
What Durban businesses ask us.
Are you based in Durban?
No. We are remote-first and work with businesses across the country. What decides whether a Durban account performs is not the agency’s postcode — it is whether the person building it knows damp is a year-round category here and that a Berea job and a Phoenix job are not priced alike. Calls, screen shares and a monthly report you can actually read.
Should I be bidding on isiZulu keywords?
Probably, because they cost almost nothing to add and the auction on them is thin. Keep the expectation honest though: the English volume is bigger and will still bring most of your leads. We add the terms, watch what they do for a month, then decide whether they have earned their own ad copy.
Do I need to change my budget over December?
Yes, and usually in the opposite direction to what people assume. December fills Durban with visitors and empties it of local decision makers, so residential enquiries can hold up while commercial work stops dead. If you sell to businesses, spending flat through the shutdown is paying to reach an empty office park.
Are Durban clicks cheaper than Johannesburg’s?
In most trades, yes. The auction is shallower and fewer national aggregators are bidding it up. That is a real advantage, and it is also the reason a badly built account can survive for years in Durban without anybody noticing how much it wastes.
Would you take on a second plumber in Durban?
No. One business per trade per area. Putting two of our own clients through the same auction lifts the price for both and only one of them gets the click. Ask any agency pitching you the same question — the answer tells you a great deal.
Is there a contract?
There is nothing to cancel out of. It runs month to month, you can stop at the end of any month, and the Google Ads account is registered in your name, so the history, the conversion data and the audiences stay with you.
