Google Ads Agency
in George

George is not an outer suburb of Cape Town, and a campaign that reaches both is failing at least one of them. It is the service hub of the Garden Route, it runs on new arrivals rather than on established referral networks, and it deserves an account built for the Southern Cape. From R4,500 a month. No lock-in.

Four client accounts published with their account screenshots. The returns above are ratios, so they read the same in rand as they do in dollars. All four are American accounts. None of them is a George account, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Judge the method, then read the numbers and the reconciliation notes on the results page.

A Cape Town campaign that
reaches George is a leak.

The drive is most of a working day. Everything about how this market should be advertised follows from that one fact.

Two accounts, not one wide one

Exclude the Garden Route from Cape Town

If you are a Cape Town business, George should be an explicit exclusion, not a distant edge of your radius. Every click from here is a job you cannot reach and a quote you will lose on travel. If you are a George business, the reverse applies just as firmly — bidding on Cape Town from here buys you attention you can do nothing with.

The radius genuinely is large here

The opposite of the Cape Town problem

Cape Town punishes wide targeting because of the mountain and the traffic. The Southern Cape rewards it, because the roads are quick and there is very little competition in between. Wilderness, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn and the coastal villages are all realistically serviceable from George, which makes this one of the few markets where widening the area is the right first move rather than the lazy one.

New arrivals have no plumber yet

Semigration is the best reason to advertise here

Somebody who has lived in George for twenty years phones the person their neighbour recommends. Somebody who moved down from Gauteng last month has no such person, so they open Google. The retirement and semigration estates are therefore where your ads matter most, and the enquiry usually comes with a list of jobs rather than one.

A small market, honestly

Expect fewer searches than a Cape Town suburb

The whole town’s monthly search volume for most trades is smaller than a single mid-sized Cape Town suburb’s. That is not a reason to skip it — competition is thin and clicks are far cheaper — but it does mean a budget above a certain level has nothing left to buy. We would rather cap the spend and say so than let a large budget bid up a small auction.

Suburbs we build George campaigns around: George Central, Heather Park, Denneoord, Loerie Park, Blanco, Bergsig, Camphersdrift, Kraaibosch, Heatherlands, Fernridge, Levallia, Pacaltsdorp, Thembalethu, Wilderness, Herolds Bay, Great Brak River and Mossel Bay.

The Garden Route trades
we build campaigns for.

Retirement estates, holiday properties and a climate that rains in every season shape what sells here.

Construction & Renovations

Estate building and the renovation work that follows a semigration purchase. New arrivals redo kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor areas within the first year, and they have nobody to ask, which is exactly when an ad works.

Electricians

Compliance certificates on a property market with unusually high turnover, plus solar and backup installations for households that want independence from the municipal supply.

Plumbers

Maintenance on holiday houses that stand empty for months and reveal every problem the week the owner arrives, alongside ordinary residential work in the estates.

Roofing Companies

George gets rain in every season rather than a single wet window, which flattens the seasonality that dominates Cape Town roofing accounts and makes waterproofing a year-round category here.

Cleaning Companies

Holiday changeovers along the coast, pre-arrival opens for absent owners, and estate common-area contracts. Three buyers with three different urgencies.

HVAC & Aircon

Heat pumps and heating matter as much as cooling in this climate, which is unusual for a Western Cape market and worth reflecting in the ad copy rather than running a generic aircon campaign.

George searches that look like
work and are not.

A tourism town with an airport and a famous golf estate produces search volume that has nothing to do with hiring anybody.

Golf

“golf packages”, “tee times”

George is a golf destination first as far as Google is concerned, and golf-related searching dwarfs local service search. It is easy to negate and easy to forget, and it will quietly sit in a broad-matched campaign for months.

Airport and travel logistics

“George airport”, “car hire”

The airport is one of the most searched things in the district, and flights, transfers, parking and car hire terms attach themselves to anything carrying the town name. High volume, zero intent, immediate saving.

Municipal queries

“load shedding schedule”, “municipal account”

George runs its own municipality, so residents search for schedules, accounts, refuse days and outages constantly. Electrical and plumbing keywords in particular catch a share of it, because an outage query and a fault query use much the same words.

Route planning

“Garden Route itinerary”, “things to do”

Visitors plan this trip in detail and they plan it from elsewhere. Interest-based location settings make it considerably worse, which is one of the reasons a George account should be set to presence only.

Every one of these is something we have pulled out of a real account. The free audit tells you which of them your budget is funding right now.

What George businesses ask us.

I am based in Cape Town. Should I add George to my campaign?

No. Add an exclusion instead. You cannot service it profitably at four and a half hours and the clicks are not free. If you genuinely want the Garden Route as a market, it is a second account with its own budget, bids and ad copy, and probably a person on the ground.

Is there enough search volume in George?

Enough for most trades, and less than you would like. The compensation is that clicks here cost a fraction of what they do in the metro, so a small budget goes a long way. Above a certain spend there is simply nothing left to buy, and we would tell you where that ceiling sits rather than keep billing against it.

Should I cover Mossel Bay, Wilderness and Oudtshoorn too?

Usually yes, and this is one of the few places we say that. The drives are quick, the competition is thin, and the extra area gives the account enough volume to learn from. Keep separate bids so you can see whether the further towns are actually paying for the travel.

Should I pause over the winter?

Not for maintenance trades. Tourism is seasonal here but the resident population is not, and the retirement estates generate work in every month. If your business is entirely holiday-let dependent, the off-season is real and the budget should shrink rather than stop.

Will you take on another business in my trade in George?

No, and in a town this size it would be obvious to everyone within a fortnight. One business per trade in the Southern Cape, which also means we will not quietly sign your competitor in Mossel Bay and call it a different market.

What is the commitment?

A month. Then another month, if you want one. No annual agreement, no notice period, and the account stays in your name with all of its history intact.

are coming from George.

Send your details and Vogien will go through the account personally — whether a Cape Town campaign is buying Garden Route clicks it cannot service, how much went to golf, airport and trip-planning searches, and whether the budget is larger than this market can actually absorb.
