Google Ads Agency
in Mitchells Plain
Mitchells Plain has one of the largest populations in the metro and close to no advertising competition, which makes the clicks cheap. What it does not have is patience for a contact form. The campaign that works here runs on WhatsApp, on a phone, at low bids and real volume. From R4,500 a month. No lock-in.

Documented Client Accounts
Four client accounts published with their account screenshots. The returns above are ratios, so they read the same in rand as they do in dollars. All four are American accounts. None of them is a Mitchells Plain account, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Judge the method, then read the numbers and the reconciliation notes on the results page.
Where Your Ads Show
Nobody here is filling in
your five-field contact form.
The mechanics of the campaign matter more in Mitchells Plain than the wording of it, and the mechanics most agencies default to are wrong for this market.
Click to WhatsApp
The conversion action that people actually use
A form asks somebody to type an address on a phone and then wait for an email. A call costs airtime and reaches voicemail. WhatsApp costs nothing, keeps a record and lets the customer send a photograph of the problem. Point the ads at a WhatsApp click and enquiries go up sharply. The honest cost is a weaker signal — a chat is harder to attribute and easier to abandon than a completed form.
Cheap clicks, thin margins
Volume is the whole strategy
Very few advertisers bid here, so the same budget buys many times the clicks it would buy in the Southern Suburbs. That is a genuine advantage and it is not the same as cheap customers. Job values are lower, so the campaign only works at low bids and high volume, and it fails immediately if it is run like a high-ticket account. We check that arithmetic before building anything.
Built for a phone on a small data bundle
Page weight is a conversion problem
This is an overwhelmingly mobile market and often on entry-level handsets and metered data. A landing page carrying video, sliders and three tracking scripts loses the visitor before it finishes loading, and you have paid for the click regardless. Light pages, large tap targets and a phone number and WhatsApp button above the fold do more here than any amount of copywriting.
People search by their own section
One suburb name is not enough coverage
This is a very large area made of clearly named parts — Tafelsig, Portlands, Westridge, Rocklands, Lentegeur, Beacon Valley, Strandfontein — and residents search using their own section rather than the umbrella name. A keyword list with only the main name on it misses a substantial share of the demand, and the section terms are cheaper again.
Suburbs we build Mitchells Plain campaigns around: Tafelsig, Portlands, Westridge, Rocklands, Lentegeur, Beacon Valley, Eastridge, Woodlands, Colorado Park, Weltevreden Valley, Strandfontein, Philippi East, Ottery edge and Grassy Park.
Trades We Run Here
The Mitchells Plain trades
we build campaigns for.
High volume, modest tickets, and payment terms that matter as much as price.
Plumbers
Geysers, drains and leaks at real volume. What wins the job is often not the price but whether you can come today and whether the customer can pay on completion rather than upfront. Say both in the ad.
Electricians
Fault finding, board work, prepaid meter problems and compliance certificates on a large older housing stock. Small jobs, quick turnaround, and a customer who wants a fixed figure before you arrive.
Roofing Companies
Winter leak repairs across older stock, and asbestos sheeting that still needs licensed removal on a good number of properties. That is specialist, compliance-bound work and there is very little advertising competition for it.
Cleaning Companies
Domestic work at the volume end, plus school, church hall and small business contracts, and industrial cleaning in the Philippi East and Ottery working areas where the margins are better.
Construction & Renovations
Extensions, rooms, garages and boundary walls, very often built in stages as the money comes together. A builder who quotes in phases and says so will out-convert one who quotes a single large figure.
HVAC & Aircon
The thinnest of the six here, and worth saying plainly. Domestic aircon demand in this market is modest, so we would treat it as a small ad group inside a wider account rather than a campaign that has to carry itself.
Stop Paying For These
Mitchells Plain searches that look like
work and are not.
The cheap clicks come with the largest volume of genuinely irrelevant traffic of any market in the metro. Both facts are true at once.
Learnerships and training placements
“learnership”, “apprenticeship”, “SETA”
By a wide margin the biggest leak here. Enormous numbers of people search for placements, bursaries and training every month using the exact trade words your customers use. Learnership, apprentice, internship, bursary, SETA, traineeship and vacancies have to be in the negatives before the campaign goes live, not after.
Free and subsidised services
“free geyser”, “government housing”
There is real search volume for subsidised and municipal provision, and it looks identical to commercial demand in a keyword report. Somebody looking for a free replacement is not going to accept a quote, and the terms are easy to exclude once you know to look for them.
Grant and government office queries
“SASSA”, “application status”, “office hours”
Anything containing application, office, help or enquiry can be pulled toward grant and government service searching, which carries far more volume in this market than trade searching does.
Accidental taps
Search Partners and Display, switched on by default
On small screens and older handsets, mistaken taps are a real and measurable cost, and both the Search Partner network and the Display Network are enabled by default in a new campaign. Switching them off is the first thing we do in a Mitchells Plain account and it usually shows up in the numbers within a week.
Every one of these is something we have pulled out of a real account. The free audit tells you which of them your budget is funding right now.

Questions
What Mitchells Plain businesses ask us.
Are cheap clicks actually a good thing?
They are an advantage, not a result. Cheap clicks with the wrong conversion action and a heavy landing page still produce nothing. What makes this market work is the combination — low bids, real volume, a WhatsApp conversion and a page that loads on a bad connection. Remove any one of the four and the arithmetic stops working.
Should I really use WhatsApp instead of a form?
In this market, yes, and we would push back if you insisted otherwise. It is what people use, it lets them send a photograph, and it does not cost them airtime. Accept that the reporting is looser: chats are harder to attribute than forms, and we will be upfront about that in every monthly summary.
Do I need to turn off the Display Network?
Almost always, and Search Partners with it. They inflate the click count and flatter the cost per click while producing very little, and on mobile-heavy traffic a share of the clicks were never intentional. It is a two-minute change that most accounts here have never had made.
Is there enough paying work here for my trade?
For plumbing, electrical, roofing and cleaning, plainly yes — it is a large market with almost no competition for the advertising. For higher-ticket or discretionary services the answer is often no, and we would rather point you at a different suburb than sell you a campaign that cannot work.
Do you work with more than one business per trade in the area?
No. Even where volume would allow it, two of our clients bidding on the same section names would push both their costs up in a market whose whole advantage is that clicks are cheap. That would be undoing the only edge you have.
What if it does not work for me?
You stop at the end of the month and you owe nothing further. There is no term, no penalty and nothing to hand back, and if the first month’s data says this is the wrong channel for your business we will say so rather than wait for you to work it out.

is the reason nobody enquires.
Send your details and Vogien will go through the account personally — whether your conversion action suits how people here actually make contact, how much went to learnership and grant searches, and whether the Display Network has been quietly spending your budget since the day the account opened.
